I have been writing poetry on and off since the age of 17. I recently got quite addicted to Twitter and the Haiku a day challenge. Over time I found myself getting too intertwined in Twitter and my personal Twitter account began to make me unhappy so I have decided to step away from it for now. I intend to revisit the haikus and other poems I have posted over the past two years and post my favourite ones here. By taking a social media break I thankfully no longer crave the dopamine buzz that hearts and retweets give, which can actually be quite addictive (And this is documented in psychology literature). I am happy for my work to just be read by the occasional visitor who stumbles upon it. I find writing a nice creative outlet and I have been missing it. I am still working on writing a book and do hope one day to publish a novel just for personal achievement. I also have some plans in the works to produce a non fiction book which would allow me to use my people skills to interview people and my transcription skills to type up the interviews. I have been writing bad poetry since the 80s folks. I am going to turn my hand to writing a non fiction book in 2019, I feel excited by the prospect!
