Marketing and Focus Groups
My first proper job at the age of 16 was working for a market research company, which mainly consisted of quantitative market research interviews by telephone. For ten years following that I remained in the market research field doing a variety of duties such as a telephone mystery shopper, a qualitative telephone interviewer, focus group facilitator, field interviewer, social science interviewer at a Canadian university, data entry of posted surveys and countless consumer research studies. I understand your field and I know what you are looking for.
I have had the pleasure of transcribing a lot of qualitative research interviews which have been conducted by telephone. I am often sought when the client being spoken to is North American as I am originally from Canada. It is often very beneficial to have an ear tuned into that accent and be aware of the expressions and intonations used in that part of the world. Unless you are quite familiar with an accent, you can mishear certain words and phrases which is not helpful in the market research arena.
I also have experience in transcribing field interviews or in depth interviews for marketing companies that are conducting qualitative interviews about potential new products or designs.
Finally, I also have experience in providing transcripts of focus groups. Focus group interviews seem to come up in several areas I work in, from market research companies, to academics conducting research, as well as professionals in other areas who are interested in group opinions on subject matter usually surrounding workplace issues or topics.
I think it is important in life to know your strengths and weaknesses, and for me, I find that it is extremely difficult to differentiate between more than 8 voices, so I can only offer services for small focus groups, which you will find are competitively priced.
